Introducing our newest feature – we can’t wait for you to try it! Our New Website Builder is packed with enhanced customization, faster loading times, improved SEO settings, and so much more! While the new system is built differently from the previous Website Builder, making a fully automatic migration unavailable, we are here to help ensure a smooth transition.
To facilitate the move, we have migrated your previous content from Configuration > Website Builder > Website Content & Accommodations to Configuration > New Website Builder > Website Content & Accommodations.
Any content in English has been automatically transferred to your New Website Builder, providing a solid foundation to start your updates. You can begin working your new site by clicking the "Go to Editor" button.
As always, your Booking Engine information and settings will be seamlessly integrated into your New Website Builder.
Before starting the transfer, here’s what you need to know:
Step 1: Understanding Language Management
What’s New?
- When accessing the New Website Builder, the content available for transfer will be in your Smoobu default language.
-
To ensure smooth multilingual handling, follow this order: - Customize your site fully in the default language
- Only after all visual and layout customizations are complete, add the other languages in editor.
- The synced content (like property details) will appear in the respective language if it's been entered in Smoobu.
NOTE: If you add languages before customizing, you’ll need to redo those changes separately for each language — which can be time-consuming.
-
Additional languages are first added directly in Smoobu at the bottom of the basic configuration of the website builder.
Once the languages have been added in Smoobu, you will see in each accommodation and website content a tab to add the required field for each language.
How to Add Languages in the Editor
1) Navigate to SEO and Settings in the Editor and click Site Language.
2) Click Manage Languages.
3) Choose Add Language.
4) Select the desired language and click Done. You may select multiple at once.
5) Enable "Use automatic translation for new languages" and save.
5) A menu with flags will appear, allowing you to switch between languages.
Important Notes on Language Management
-
Dynamic Widgets (occupancy calendar, amenities list, Book Now widget) are currently available in 5 main languages: English, German, French, Italian and Spanish. Rest assured, we are working to add these widgets in additional languages in the future!
-
The Booking Engine will continue to translate automatically based on the browser settings.
-
If your old website was in English, your content will automatically be set to English in the New Website Builder settings.
-
The Website Editor is available in English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, and Icelandic. To change the language of the editor, click the tool tip, followed by Editor Languages:
Step 2: Transferring Your Website Content
How Content is Initially Transferred
-
When setting up the New Website Builder, your existing content (text, photos) is pushed from Smoobu (Settings > New Website Builder) to the Editor. Simply make the changes in the back-end for your general information and properties, save the content and click on "Go to Editor".
How to Manually Transfer Content
1) Copy and Paste Text: Manually transfer text in other languages other than English from your old website to the new Website Builder.
- Alternatively: The Website Editor offers a built-in translation feature powered by Google Translate, allowing you to translate text from English into other languages.
2) Upload Images: Save and re-upload any additional images from your old website. Background images can modified by clicking on the background, followed by the Background Image section:
3) Reconfigure Widgets: Ensure the occupancy calendar, amenities list, and Booking Engine are set up correctly. Any extra widgets, content, customization made on the Legacy website will have to be reconfigured on the new one.
4) Review SEO Settings: Optimize your site’s metadata using the new SEO settings in the Editor. Under SEO and Settings, you will find options for Google Analytics and Conversion Tags.
5) Configure your domain or add a sub-domain.
In case you would like to use your own domain,
- First, login to your domain host, go to the domain management area, and find the DNS editing options.
- Create a new CNAME record with the following settings:
- Host/Alias: www
- Destination/Target: s.eu-multiscreensite.co
- Point the root of your domain (domain.com) to your website. To do this, create two A records with the following settings:
- First
Host/Alias: @
Destination/Target: 18.197.248.23 - Second
Host/Alias: @
Destination/Target: 52.59.120.70
- First
- Add your domain name without the www in the Own URL box of this page. Save.
Sub-domain
Smoobu also offers a subdomain should you not have a domain name. Remove existing subdomain (in this case 9A1083398) and add your own. Save.
Step 3: Finalizing and Publishing Your New Website
-
Once your content is set up, review all pages for accuracy and design consistency.
- Preview your site on mobile, tablet or desktop
-
Publish your new website when everything is ready.
-
Note: if you had not disabled your previous Smoobu Website yet, head to Configuration > Website Builder and switch it to Disabled
