You can create a discount code (also called a promo code or voucher) that a guest types in at checkout for money off a direct booking. This is different from a long-stay discount (), which comes off automatically for longer stays with no code. A typed code works on your own website and booking engine only; channels do not use guest-entered codes, but each has its own promotion tools you can use instead, shown below.
Before you start
You need these before you create a code:
Where discount codes apply
A typed code applies to bookings on your own website or booking engine, and you can also apply a property's code yourself when you create a direct booking for that property, from the calendar or with the Enter booking button. A Smoobu discount code never reaches Booking.com, Airbnb, or any other channel. To give a discount on a channel, use that channel's own promotion tools instead, as described in "Run a discount on your channels" below.
Create a discount code
- Open Configuration > Booking Engine and pick the property.
- Open Accommodation settings, then open the Discount code section.
- Click the add (+) icon to open the Edit Discount code form.
- Under Accommodations, choose which property or sub-property the code applies to.
- Enter a Name, the Code guests will type, and a Value (a number). Use the € / % selector next to it to set whether the value is a fixed amount in your currency or a percentage.
- Set Valid from and Valid until to control the dates the code works. If you enter no dates, the code is only valid on the day it was created.
- Click Save.
You can add more codes, each aimed at a different audience, and delete a code to cancel it.
There is no single-use or usage-limit field. A code stays usable by any number of guests for as long as the booking date falls inside its Valid from and Valid until dates. To stop a code, delete it or move its date window into the past.
A code only discounts nights inside its validity dates. If a stay starts inside the window and runs past it, only the nights inside the window are discounted; the rest are charged at your normal price.
Give the code to guests
Guests enter the code at the bottom of the checkout page on your website or booking engine, and the discount applies to the price. To share a code, add it to a guest message; see .
Run a discount on your channels
Channels do not accept a typed code, but each has its own way to discount. Set it where that channel lives:
Airbnb
Airbnb's promotions, its weekly, monthly, early-bird, last-minute, and mobile-only discounts, are managed from Smoobu. Open Channels, open your Airbnb card's Additional Settings, and set them there. For the full how-to on Airbnb's discounts and promotions, see How do I manage my Airbnb listing with Smoobu - Settings, Discounts, Additional fees, Seasonal Rules, Lead time and more.
Booking.com
Booking.com discounts are promotions you set in the Booking.com Extranet on its Promotions tab (for example a deal for a date range, or the New Property Deal for a new listing). There is no Smoobu-side path for Booking.com promotions. See .
Other channels
Every other channel keeps its own promotion tools in its own interface. Set the discount there for each channel you use.
Check it worked
On your booking engine, start a booking inside the code's date range, enter the code at checkout, and confirm the price drops.
Common problems
A code with numbers in it won't apply
Some codes that contain digits are rejected at checkout while others work. Use a discount code made of letters only, with no numbers.
The discount comes out wrong
If the amount taken off looks wrong, the code may be calculating on the total after tax and fees rather than on the base price. Apply the discount manually on the booking instead of relying on the code, and the amount will be correct.
The code ignores a minimum-stay requirement
Discount codes don't have a minimum-stay condition. For a discount tied to how long a guest stays, use a long-stay discount (), which applies automatically once a stay reaches a night threshold.
I want to upload many one-time codes
There's no bulk import of unique voucher codes; create each code individually. Codes are set per property.

I want to offer two free nights for a fundraiser auction. How can i create a one time use discount code? If I set a dollar value to the code, what happens if the value of the discount is more than the cost of the room?
