Someone invited you to their Smoobu account as a staff member, co-host, owner, or collaborator, and now you need to set up your own login and start using it. You do this by opening two emails from Smoobu, one after the other, on a computer. Once you're set up, you can use the Smoobu mobile app day to day.
Before you start
- The invitation must have been sent to you. The host who invited you enters your email on their Permissions page. If you never got an email, ask them to check that your address is on their team list and to re-send it.
- Use a computer, not a phone, for the setup itself. Accepting the invitation and setting your password does not work reliably on a mobile device.
Steps
- Open the first email from Smoobu and click its link to accept the invitation. It is a plain link, not a button, so open it on a computer. On a phone it often misfires and can start a free trial instead. A window with the headline accept permission opens, with the text "Accept to receive an e-mail for password reset, or request a new password from login page." Click Send. This tells Smoobu the address is yours and triggers your password email.
- Open the second email, which arrives after you accept, and click the link to set your password.
- Choose a password and finish. Do both of these steps on a computer.
- Log in at Smoobu with your email and your new password. You now see only what the host allowed you to see.
Use the mobile app once you're set up
The computer is only needed for the one-time setup. After you have confirmed your email and set your password, you can install the Smoobu mobile app and use it for your day-to-day work.
Check it worked
- You can log in with your email and password.
- You see the host's properties and bookings at the level of access they gave you. If something you expected is missing or greyed out, that is a permission the host has not granted, not a fault. Ask the host to adjust it.
Common problems
The link took me to a "create properties" page or a dashboard, not a "set your password" screen
This almost always means your email address already has a Smoobu account of its own, often from a past free trial. Smoobu will not ask that address to set a new password because it already has one, so you land on a dashboard or a "create properties" page and cannot get in. Clearing your cache or using a private window does not fix it. Ask the host to send the invitation to an email address you have never used with Smoobu. If it has to be this address, contact Smoobu Support and they can sort out the existing account first.
I was invited as an assistant but I can't see anything
You accepted an invitation, but when you log in you see an empty account with none of the host's properties, or Smoobu asks you to create properties. This almost always means you pressed Start free trial on the invitation instead of accepting it, so Smoobu created a brand-new trial account on your email rather than giving you access to the host's account. Cancel that trial account, then ask the host to re-send the invitation. This time open the link on a computer and, in the accept permission window, click Send. Do not sign up or start a trial.
If you can log in and do see the host's properties, but something specific is missing or greyed out, that is a permission the host has not granted, not a fault. Ask the host to adjust it.
I lost the invitation email, or I forgot my password later
If you can no longer find the invitation, ask the host to re-send it from their Permissions page. If you have already set up your account and later cannot log in or forgot your password, follow for the password reset.
