Smoobu can produce Spain's electronic invoice, VeriFactu, for your guests. VeriFactu is part of Smoobu's e-invoicing add-on; for what e-invoicing is, the pricing, and the free trial, see How Smoobu's e-invoicing works for Germany, Spain, and Italy. Before Smoobu can produce VeriFactu invoices you register once through Invopop, the provider Smoobu uses to file with Spain's tax authority (the AEAT). This page covers that registration and how to create the invoices afterwards.
Before you start
- A Pro or Pro+ plan, since e-invoicing is a paid add-on.
- A VAT number validated by the AEAT. VeriFactu will not activate without one.
- A property in mainland Spain. Smoobu's VeriFactu invoicing works in mainland Spain only. It is not valid for the Basque Country or the Canary Islands, which have their own regional tax rules.
- Smoobu allows one VeriFactu registration per account.
Set up VeriFactu
In Configuration > Invoice Settings:
- Set Invoice Type to New and Invoicing Language to Spanish.
- Fill in the rest of the settings: your Currency; toggle Apply Tax on and enter the rate (VeriFactu allows only 0%, 4%, 10%, and 21%) and the due date; your Sender Information, with the Country set to Spain; and under Tax & VAT Details your tax type and your AEAT-validated VAT number.
- Toggle on E-Invoicing / VeriFactu (Powered by Invopop), tick the terms and conditions, and click Activate.
- Click Register to open the registration wizard, then click Start. The wizard is only available in Spanish.
- Work through the wizard: review your information, download and sign the agreement, upload the signed agreement (a digital signature with a certificate of legal representation, or a handwritten one), upload the front and back of your ID, then review everything and click Confirm.
Registration can take up to three days to process. When it is done, you get a confirmation email and your registration shows as Connected in Invoice Settings.
Create and send a VeriFactu invoice
Once your registration is Connected, create invoices the usual way from a booking's Booking Details. Smoobu produces the VeriFactu invoice, which you can then download or send. Your sender details, tax settings, and numbering still come from Invoice Settings, so keep up to date.
Common questions
What is VeriFactu?
VeriFactu is Spain's official electronic-invoicing system, regulated by the AEAT. It produces verifiable, tamper-proof invoices that can be checked digitally by recipients and the tax authority.
I already registered for VeriFactu with another provider. Do I register again?
Yes. To use it inside Smoobu, you set up VeriFactu through Invopop.
I changed my address in Invoice Settings, but VeriFactu still shows the old one
Your VeriFactu registration is a separate record held with the AEAT, and Smoobu changes do not sync to it automatically. To update your official supplier details, unregister and complete the VeriFactu registration again.
How do I stop using VeriFactu?
Unregister first, then toggle the feature off.
When does the trial start, and will I be reminded?
The 14-day trial starts when you enable the feature and click Activate after accepting the terms. You get a reminder three days before it ends; if you do not cancel, it renews automatically.
