Guests can book directly on your existing website once you paste your personal Booking Engine code into it. If you can't add code to your site, link to your ready-made Smoobu booking page instead. Both options live on the Embed in website tab under Configuration > Booking Engine.
Before you start
You need both of these before you embed:
- Your Booking Engine set up, with prices and payment methods in place. See .
- Edit access to your website: a place where you can paste a block of HTML code, or at least add a button with a link.
Steps
- Open Configuration > Booking Engine and switch to the Embed in website tab.
- Under Accommodations, choose All Accommodations (guests see all your properties with a search) or one property (the form shows only that property). Only properties with prices set appear in this list; if one is missing, set its prices first.
- Adjust the Heading if you want a title shown above the booking form on your page.
- Copy the code shown on the tab, exactly as it is. Always copy it from your own Embed in website tab, never type it by hand: the code is personal to your account, and its first line contains
apartmentIframeAll(all properties) orapartmentIframefollowed by a property number (one property). A single mistyped character breaks the form. - Paste the code into an HTML area on your website and publish the page. In WordPress that's a Custom HTML block, in Wix the Embed code element, in Squarespace a Code block; most other builders have a similar custom-HTML element.
The tab has two optional settings you can leave at their defaults. Transparency sets how transparent the embedded form's background is, as a percentage, so it can blend into your page instead of showing a solid backdrop. Open Results in New Tab is a toggle that, when on, makes the search results open in a new browser tab instead of inside the embedded form.
You can generate and paste as many codes as you like: an all-properties form on your homepage and a single-property form on each property's own page work side by side.
Check it worked
Open the page in a private browser window. The booking form loads and shows the right properties with prices; picking dates shows the total with your fees. To be sure the whole flow works, complete a booking yourself without charging real money: .
No place for code? Link to your booking page instead
Every account also has a ready-made booking page at booking.smoobu.com. Click Preview at the top right of any Booking Engine settings page to open yours, then copy the address and link it from a "Book now" button on your website, in social media profiles, or in emails. For one property, share the per-property version of the link: add ?apartmentId= plus the property's number (the number shown in that property's embed code) to the address.
The booking page shows a logo and a heading, and both come from Configuration > Website Builder > Basics, not from the Booking Engine settings. Fill in those two fields even if you don't use the Website Builder for your actual website; without them, guests see a placeholder instead of your name.
For setups beyond a simple embed (showing only a group of properties, a second Booking Engine for a separate website, or a More info link on each search result), see .
Common problems
The booking form appears several times on my JIMDO page
Older JIMDO versions run embedded code more than once per page, so the form shows repeatedly. This can't be changed from the Smoobu side. Remove the embedded code and link a "Book now" button to your booking page address instead (copy it via Preview, top right of the Booking Engine settings).
Guests land on an empty page after searching on my booking link
This can happen when you share the general booking page address and a guest picks a property from its search results. Share per-property links instead: add ?apartmentId= plus the property's number to the address, which takes guests straight to a working booking form for that property.
The preview in Smoobu shows all my properties even though I picked one
The preview always combines all your priced properties, regardless of the selection. The single-property limit applies in the code you embed on your website, not in the preview. Check the published page with the embedded form to see the real result.
