How do I create and send a German e-invoice with Smoobu?

This guide walks you through how to activate Smoobu’s e-invoicing (X-Rechnung) feature and gives step-by-step instructions for generating e-invoices for each of your bookings. The feature is available exclusively to hosts in Germany.

For more information on electronic invoicing, we recommend visiting the German federal government's official page here.  After a 14-day free trial, Smoobu's E-invoicing feature costs €5.90 per account per month. Please note that discounts are not available for yearly or 2-year subscriptions.

Step-by-Step

1) Go to Configuration > Invoice Settings.

2) Enable the E-invoice feature using the toggle switch.

3) Review and accept the terms and conditions, then click Activate.

4) Open the Booking Details for the guest you want to issue an invoice for.

5) In the Invoices section, click Create New.

6) Create the invoice.

⚠️ Important: E-invoices cannot be edited once created. We recommend previewing and saving as a draft as needed.

7) Download the invoice or send it to your guest.

💡 Tip: To download the invoice, click the three-dot menu ⋮ followed by Download as PDF or Download as XML. 

The XML file contains structured data that can be shared with tax authorities, tax consultants, and other relevant parties.
