This guide explains how to send guest messages from your personal email address instead of the default @host.smoobu.com address and how to connect and verify your email to enable it. Please note that since November 2025, it is no longer possible to remove the alias.
Step-by-Step
1) Click Experience > Communication
2) Remove everything before host.smoobu.com and save the changes.
By leaving this field is left empty, your messages will be sent from the email address registered in your Smoobu account.
Advantages of using the@host.smoobu.com alias
We strongly recommend using the @host.smoobu.com alias for the following reasons:
- When you send messages from your @host.smoobu.com address, guest replies are automatically routed to Smoobu’s inbox, keeping all communication centralized.
- Sent messages and replies are linked together and displayed in the conversation history for full context.
- Invoices are correctly delivered as attachments.
If you use your own Account email address:
We understand that sending emails from your own account address can be beneficial, however there are some important drawbacks to consider:
- Spam delivery issues: Since emails are sent on your behalf without using your own mail server, some providers may classify them as spam.
- Limited conversation syncing: Messages sent from your personal email do not fully pass through Smoobu, making it difficult to display a complete conversation history within the booking details. Replies are delivered directly to your personal inbox (e.g., Gmail), meaning two-way synchronization with Smoobu is not supported.
- Invoice limitations: When using your own email address, PDF invoices cannot be attached or sent unless the @host.smoobu.com address is set up first.
For these reasons, we provide the @host.smoobu.com alias as a reliable workaround. It helps ensure proper message delivery, full conversation tracking, and correct invoice sending—while still allowing you flexibility in how you communicate. Using it is optional, but strongly recommended.

So how do I replace the @host.smoobu.com with my own email address?
Hi Steve,
if you want to use two-way messaging you will need to use the @host.smoobu.com address. If you leave it blank we will use your account mail. But note that this will only allow outbound messaging and messages are more likely to end up in spam.
Best

Where do I put the @host.smoobu.com address on the booking portals so that their messages come through smoobu?
Hi Philipp,
I did as you have recommended: I have left @host.smoobu.com address empty so my account Mail could be used, but unfortunately its impossible to send Email when @host.smoobu.com is empty. What is the solution here ?
Thanks
