To stop an automated message for all future bookings, switch its template off; to stop a single send for one guest, cancel it on that booking. Smoobu has no master switch that pauses every automated message at once, so both paths work per template or per booking.
Looking to stop the notification emails Smoobu sends to you, the host, about new bookings and guest replies? Those are your personal notification settings, a different page: see .
Before you start
You need at least one automated message template set up. If you have none yet, see .
Turn off one automated message for all bookings
- In Smoobu, go to Experience > Communication.
- In My message templates, open the template you want to stop.
- Untick Send automatically?.
- Click Save.
The template is not deleted. It stays available in the Template dropdown of the Reply to Guest box on every booking, so you can still send it by hand to the guests who need it.
Check it worked
As soon as you untick Send automatically?, the three timing fields (trigger, day offset, and hour) disappear from the template editor. After saving, the template no longer fires on its own; it only goes out when you pick it manually from a booking.
Cancel or reschedule a message for one booking
To stop or move one send for one guest, for example a returning guest who doesn't need the check-in instructions again:
- Open the booking's detail page, for example from the Bookings list.
- Scroll to the scheduled messages: the list of automated messages still queued for this booking.
- Delete the message you want to stop, or edit it to change its sending date.
The message disappears from the list (or shows its new date), and other bookings are not affected. When you change the date, the message keeps its original time of day. To change more, delete it and schedule a new one-off message.
Schedule a one-off message for one booking
The reverse also works: keep a template switched off in general and send it as a scheduled message only where it fits.
- Open the booking's detail page.
- In the scheduled messages area, add a new scheduled message. Write it from scratch or start from one of your templates.
- Pick the sending date and save.
The message appears in the booking's scheduled messages list and goes out on the chosen date, for this booking only.
There is no account-wide off switch
Switching off is per template: Smoobu has no setting that silences all automated messages at once, and no bulk on/off for several templates together. To pause everything, untick Send automatically? on each template. If you only want certain properties or channels to stop receiving a message, you don't have to switch the template off at all: narrow its Accommodations or Channels selection instead.
Common problems
You deleted a scheduled message and now its template is missing from the reply form
After deleting a scheduled message that was based on a template, that template can vanish from the Template dropdown in the Reply to Guest box of that booking, and it does not come back there on its own. Copy the template's text into a blank message by hand and send that instead. The template still works on your other bookings.
You switched templates off but still receive booking emails yourself
Template switches only control what Smoobu sends to guests. The emails Smoobu sends to you about new bookings and messages are controlled in your personal notification settings; see .
