You can change a booking after it is saved: its dates, the property it sits on, the guest's contact details, prices, and payment status. This article shows where to edit a booking, how to move it or change its length, and how to change or remove a blocked period.
Change channel bookings on the channel
Direct bookings, bookings from your own website, and blocked periods are fully yours to edit in Smoobu. A booking that came in from a channel such as Booking.com or Airbnb belongs to that channel: if the guest wants different dates or the price changes, make the change on the channel, and Smoobu imports the modification into your calendar automatically. Editing a channel booking directly in Smoobu changes only your Smoobu calendar; nothing is pushed back to the channel, so the guest's booking there stays exactly as it was. This is the same as cancelling: cancelling a channel booking in Smoobu does not cancel it on the channel.
Edit a booking's details
- Open Bookings and click View more on the booking's row. Use the date range and Filters if you can't see it; the list shows upcoming arrivals by default.
- On the booking's detail page, click Edit.
- Change what you need: arrival and departure dates, the property, the guest's name, email and phone, the language, the number of guests, and the price, prepayment, and deposit amounts.
- To record a payment, tick the received checkbox next to the amount the guest has paid. When payments recorded on the booking reach the full price, Smoobu marks the price as paid for you.
- Click Save.
The Language field decides which language your automated messages use for this guest; see .
Move, extend or shorten a booking
To extend or shorten a stay, open Edit and set the new arrival or departure date. To move the booking to another property, pick the new property in the same form and save.
On the Calendar you can do the same by dragging: click and hold the booking bar, then drag it to new dates or onto another property's row. The booking updates when you release it. Either way, Smoobu pushes the updated availability to your connected channels, so the old dates open up and the new dates close; see .
Edit or remove a blocked period
Open the Calendar, scroll to the blocked dates, and click the blocked period to change or unblock it. Unblocking releases the dates, and they show as available again on your channels. You can also find blocked periods in the Bookings list: enable Blocked dates under Filters, then Status (they are hidden by default).
Check it worked
The booking's row in Bookings shows the new dates or property, and on the Calendar the booking bar sits on the new dates or row. If the property has buffer days configured, the hatched buffer cells move with the booking.
Common problems
The change won't save because of a date conflict
The new dates overlap something on the target property: an existing booking, a buffer day, or an automatic block from a linked main property or sub-property. Open the Calendar and check the target row across your new date range. If nothing overlaps and the conflict message keeps appearing, this is a problem that can only be fixed by our customer service team; contact them with the Booking ID (see Still stuck below).
The guest booked through a channel and wants to extend or change dates
Change the booking on the channel where it was made, for example in your Booking.com Extranet or in Airbnb. Smoobu imports the channel's modification automatically. Changing the dates only in Smoobu does not change the guest's actual booking on the channel.
I want to delete a booking, not just edit or cancel it
Cancelling is the way to void a booking: it keeps the booking on record with all its data and releases the dates; see . The trash icon on a bookings-list row also cancels the booking rather than deleting it.
A field I filled in when creating the booking looks different in the edit form
The entry form and the edit form group some fields differently, but they change the same booking. A detail you saved at creation is still on the booking even if the edit form shows it in another place.
