Guest reviews from Airbnb, Booking.com, or Google don't appear on your Smoobu website automatically: Smoobu has no built-in review widget. What works instead is a review widget from a third-party provider, embedded in your site through the editor's HTML widget. Elfsight and Trustindex are two providers hosts have used for this; Smoobu is not affiliated with either, so their setup, pricing, and support are theirs.
Before you start
You need all of these before you can embed reviews:
- A Smoobu website: .
- An account with a review-widget provider (for example Elfsight or Trustindex). You create and configure the review widget on the provider's site, following the provider's own help pages.
- The embed code the provider gives you for your finished widget.
What to expect from a third-party widget
Because the widget runs on the provider's service, the provider sets the conditions. Elfsight's free plan, for example, caps monthly views, and an active website reaches the cap quickly, so plan for a paid plan if the reviews should stay up reliably. Embedded reviews also refresh on the provider's schedule, not live: a new review appears on your site when the provider next updates the widget, and Smoobu cannot speed that up.
Steps
- On the provider's website, create your review widget, connect your review sources (such as your Airbnb and Booking.com listings), and copy the embed code.
- In Smoobu, open Configuration > Website Builder and click Go to Editor.
- Open the Add panel and find the HTML widget (a block you can paste code into).
- Drag the HTML widget onto the page, in the spot where the reviews should appear.
- Paste the provider's embed code into the widget and click Update.
- Republish the site.
Check it worked
Open your published website: the review block renders where you placed it and shows your reviews. If the space stays empty, open the HTML widget again and check the embed code was copied completely, then publish again.
Common problems
The widget can't find my Airbnb or Booking.com listing
Connecting review sources happens on the provider's side. Hosts have seen this with Elfsight: Airbnb and Booking.com listings are sometimes not detected automatically even when Google is found without trouble. It is an issue on the provider's side that Smoobu can't fix: contact the provider's support and give them your listing's web address.
A new review isn't showing on my site
Embedded widgets cache their data and update on the provider's schedule, which can depend on your plan with them. Give it time, and check the provider's plan options if you need faster refreshes. There is no Smoobu-side setting for this.

Still stuck?
If these steps didn't fix it, contact the Smoobu team: open the Help menu to open a ticket or book a call slot, or use the chat bubble in the bottom-right corner. To get the fastest answer, please include:
- Your Smoobu User ID (in the profile-icon menu, top right).
- The property name or ID, if it's about one property.
- The Booking ID, if it's about one booking (Bookings, then View more).
- The channel name, if it's about channel sync (Booking.com, Airbnb, Vrbo, and so on).
- A short step-by-step: what you did, what you expected, and what happened.
- Screenshots or a short screen recording of the problem.
- Your browser and operating system, if something looks wrong on screen.
