This guide explains how to build a website using Smoobu’s Website Builder, from setting up your site and choosing a design to adding key content like property details, photos, and booking options. It also walks you through how to customize your website and publish it so guests can book directly.
Step-by-Step
1) Click Essentials> Website Builder.
2) Entering information on Smoobu - Basics Tab:
- Create a Catchy Heading for Your Booking Engine - Use your property name or brand to make your booking page instantly recognizable and memorable.
- Upload Your Logo - Add your logo to give your booking engine a professional, personalized appearance that reflects your brand identity.
- Edit the Subdomain - Customize your subdomain to better match your brand and make your booking page easier to access and remember.
- Connect Your Own Domain (Optional) - If you own a domain, configure your DNS settings and enter your custom URL in the “Own URL” field to link it to your booking engine.
- Languages - At the bottom of the page, you can add additional languages for the information displayed in Smoobu.
- Important: These languages will not automatically appear in the website builder—you must also add them manually within the editor for them to be visible on your site.
⚠️ Click Save When Done
3) Entering information on Smoobu - Website Content Tab
- Header - The top section of the your site
- Description - A short overview of the rental property, highlighting key features like number of rooms, amenities, location, and what makes the stay special.
- About us - Information about you as the host, helping guests understand who you are and what kind of experience you aim to provide.
- Contact & Imprint - Ways for guests to contact you (email, phone, messaging platform), along with legal or business identification details if required.
- House Rules - Clear guidelines guests must follow during their stay, such as check-in/check-out times, smoking rules, pet policies, noise limits, and occupancy restrictions.
- Further information - Additional helpful details like parking instructions, Wi-Fi access, transport options, local recommendations, or frequently asked questions.
- Terms and Conditions - The legal agreement for booking your property, including cancellation policies, payment terms, liability rules, and guest responsibilities.
- Data Policy - Explains how guest personal data is collected, used, stored, and protected in accordance with privacy regulations.
⚠️ Click Save When Done
4) Entering information on Smoobu - Accommodations Tab:
a) Start by choosing which properties to showcase by checking or unchecking them at the left.
b) Add your property details - Click Details and Photos
- Marketing Title: Create a catchy title to grab attention.
- Address: Fill in your property’s address.
- Rooms and beds: Fill in the max number of guests, size of your property, number of rooms and and bedrooms.
- Price per Night: Provide a price to set expectations for potential guests.
- About the accommodation - Provides a clear overview of the vacation rental itself.
- Description: Write a compelling description that sells your property.
- Amenities (e.g., pool, Wi-Fi): Check off key amenities (e.g., pool, Wi-Fi) to entice potential guest
- Lastly, add information such as Other things to note, Neighborhood info, and info on Getting around.
⚠️ Click Save When Done
5) Click Go to Editor
Once you’ve entered all your details in Smoobu, click Go to Editor to be redirected to the editor.
6) Navigate your site’s Pages - Use the dropdown menu in the top-left to navigate between pages
Home: Your website's landing page
- Change the Background Image: Click on the image, then go to Design > Background Image.
- You can tweak or remove optional sections like the YouTube video, Testimonials, and FAQs.
- Add your Logo to the top-left corner.
Please note: Some widgets are marked as View Only. The content for these is updated on Smoobu. You may remove these widgets if you wish.
Properties: Gives an overview of your properties.
Book Now: Displays real-time availability for easy booking.
About Us: Provides information about you (the host).
Contact: Section where visitors and guests can find the necessary information to get in touch with the you. This can include a contact form, your email address, phone number, physical address, and social media links.
Property Details: Provides detailed information, including a map and amenities.
Privacy Policy: Explains how you collect, use, store, and protect personal information from your website visitors guests
Cancellation Policy: Outlines the terms and conditions under which a guest can cancel a booking, including any applicable fees, timeframes, and refund eligibility.
Terms and Conditions: A set of rules and guidelines that define the legal relationship between a you and its users, outlining the rights, responsibilities, and limitations for both parties
House Rules: Guidelines and expectations set by a property owner or host that guests must follow during their stay to ensure safety, respect, and proper use of the space.
7) Enhance your site
On the left Editor Panel, you will find the following tools to enhance your site. They include:
a) Elements- Add elements for:
- Click-to-call button
- Photos and Photo galleries
- Social media icons (click Share)
- Maps
- And more!
b) Pages
- Rearrange pages by clicking and dragging on the three dots
- Rename, duplicate or delete pages by clicking on three dots
Please note: there is a limit of 10 pages per site.
c) Layers
- Layers panel provides a hierarchical view of your site page’s elements, allowing you to easily navigate and manage complex structures.
- By clicking a layer, it will highlight the portion on the page
b) Theme
- Choose a color scheme that matches your brand.
- Change fonts
- Customize button styles to improve user engagement.
- Adjust images and backgrounds for a professional look.
- Add a Favicon to strengthen your brand identity.
- Enter a Google Tracking ID for Google Analytics and a conversion tag
- Activate a Cookie Notification for your site
- Add your own custom HTML/JavaScript
- Enable multiple languages by clicking Add a language. Your content will be automatically translated. You will have a language selector at the top of your editor.
Under Site Dashboard, you can view an overview of your site and any response to your contact form.
f) Footer
8) Final Steps
a) Preview Your Site - Click Preview to see how your website looks on desktop, mobile, and tablet.
b) Publish Your Site - Once satisfied, click Publish to make your website live.
Note: Publishing a site requires a paid / professional user account.
