You can add a percentage markup or discount for each channel, so Booking.com can be priced higher than your direct website (to cover its commission, for example) while your own site stays lower. You set one base price in Pricing, then a per-channel percentage on top of it. To push those prices out right away, see . To stop syncing prices to a channel so you can manage them yourself, see .
Before you start
You need both of these before you set per-channel prices:
- A base price in your rate calendar. The per-channel adjustment is a percentage on top of your base price. See .
- The channel already connected under Channels.
How per-channel pricing works
The per-channel adjustment is a percentage Smoobu applies when it pushes your base price to that channel. A positive value is a markup, a negative value is a discount. A base price of 100 with a 15% markup sends 115 to that channel.
Markups are set per channel across your whole account, not per property. You can't give one property a different Booking.com markup than another. If you need property-specific pricing on a channel, disconnect that listing's rate plan in Smoobu and set its prices directly in that channel's own management dashboard (for Booking.com, the Extranet).
Set a per-channel price adjustment
- Open Pricing, click Settings, then Percentage adjustment. The Price settings modal opens.
- Find the channel's row. Each row shows the channel name, a Price Sync checkbox, and a Price adjustment field.
- In Price adjustment, type the percentage. Use a comma for the decimal, for example
15,00for a 15% markup or-10,00for a 10% discount. - Choose how it takes effect:
- Save applies the new adjustment only to price changes you make from now on.
- Overwrite Prices applies it to all your existing prices immediately and pushes them to the channel. Requests usually take a few minutes.
Check it worked
In Pricing, click the small gray arrow next to a property's name to expand its per-channel sub-rows. Each connected channel shows the price it will receive, which is your base price with the channel's percentage applied. Confirm the number matches what you intended. These sub-rows are a read-out of the calculation, so you can't edit them directly.
Common problems
I set a markup but the channel still shows the old price
Save only applies to price changes you make afterwards. To apply an adjustment to prices you've already set, use Overwrite Prices instead. See .
The price-difference figures show huge percentages
If one channel's difference reads as an extreme percentage, that channel is usually running a different currency from the rest. Smoobu sends the same plain number to every channel without converting it, so the comparison is between two different currencies, not two prices. Align the currency on that channel with the others (see ), or keep a compensating percentage adjustment for it and check it regularly, because exchange rates move while your adjustment stays fixed.
