Feratel MeldeClient is Smoobu's integration for Meldeschein (electronic guest registration) in Austrian and German municipalities. Once it is connected, every booking gets an Update button on its detail page that opens a registration form pre-filled with the guest's data. Submit the form and it is filed with Feratel, and through Feratel with the right municipal office.
Feratel MeldeClient handles guest registration. It is a different product from Feratel Deskline, which connects Feratel as a booking channel. If you came here to add Feratel as a channel, see instead.
Before you start
You need these in place before you connect:
-
Two IDs from your local tourist office, one per property location:
- the Firmen-ID (your company or business ID), and
- the Organisations-ID (your community or organization ID).
Your tourist office often calls these the Betriebsnummer (the Firmen-ID) and the Gemeindekennzahl (the Organisations-ID). They are the same numbers under different names, and the mismatch trips up many hosts. Contact your tourist office to get both.
The Country set on each property. In Configuration > Properties, edit each property and set its Country to Austria or Germany. Without a Country, Feratel cannot link the property and the Update button never appears on bookings.
Steps
- In Smoobu, open the Marketplace, open Feratel MeldeClient, and click Connect.
- Enter the Firmen-ID and Organisations-ID for each property.
- Check that each property's Country is set to Austria or Germany under Configuration > Properties.
- Click Save.
How it works after you connect
After setup, each booking detail page shows an Update button. Open the booking detail and click Update to open the registration form, pre-filled with the guest's data: name, address, nationality, identity document, date of birth, arrival and planned departure. The fields come from the guest's online check-in if they filled it in; if not, they are empty and you fill them in by hand. Click Submit and the form is filed with Feratel.
If you need to change a departure date or finalise a registration after you submit it, that happens on the Feratel side, in your local tourist office's webclient, not in Smoobu. Smoobu does not push those later edits to Feratel.
One thing does not carry over: the signature a guest gives on Smoobu's online check-in form is not transferred to the Feratel registration. To meet Feratel's signature requirement you either print the registration and collect a signature on paper at check-in, or use Feratel's own signature flow if your tourist office has enabled it.
Check it worked
- Make a test booking with a guest who has filled in the online check-in (name, address, country, document number).
- Open the booking detail and confirm the Update button appears.
- Click Update and confirm the form pre-fills from the online check-in data.
- Submit it and confirm the registration appears in your Feratel webclient.
Common problems
The Update button does not appear on my bookings
The most common cause is a missing Country on the property. In Configuration > Properties, edit the property and set its Country to Austria or Germany. The button appears once Feratel can link the property.
Some fields are empty even though the guest filled in online check-in
A few fields, often postal code, country and nationality, sometimes arrive empty in the Feratel form. Fill the missing fields in the Update form before you submit. If it keeps happening across many bookings, contact Smoobu Support, as it may be a field-mapping gap between online check-in and Feratel.
I mixed up the Firmen-ID and the Organisations-ID
The two IDs are not interchangeable, and the connection fails to authenticate if they are swapped. Re-check them with your tourist office. Remember your office may call them the Betriebsnummer and the Gemeindekennzahl.
My region uses a form that does not match Feratel's
Some Austrian and German regions use their own Meldeschein format with extra fields. Feratel usually maps onto the closest match, and any field it cannot fill you complete in the Update form each time. Contact your tourist office if certain fields consistently cannot be filled.
