Smoobu connects to several smart lock and key handover brands. Once a lock is connected and linked to a property, Smoobu receives a door code for each booking and puts it into your guest messages automatically, so a guest can let themselves in without meeting you.
Each brand connects in its own way, so pick your brand below and follow its article. You do not need to read the others.
Brands you can connect
- Nuki. Retrofit smart locks. Needs an active Nuki Smart Hosting subscription. See .
- igloohome. Keypad locks and key boxes that work without Wi-Fi. See .
- RemoteLock. Works as a bridge to several lock brands, including August, HID, Kwikset, Schlage and Yale. If you own a Yale lock, this is the article you need. See .
- Tedee. Retrofit smart locks, connected from your Tedee account. See How do I connect Tedee to Smoobu?.
- Masunt. Steel key vaults, key boxes and safes for handing over a physical key. See How do I connect Masunt to Smoobu?.
You find all of them in Smoobu under Marketplace, in the Smart Home category.
Which placeholder each brand uses
Every brand delivers its code through its own placeholder. You put the placeholder into an automated message template, and Smoobu replaces it with the guest's real code when the message is sent:
- Nuki uses
[nukiPin]. - igloohome uses
[igloohomeLockCode]. - RemoteLock uses
[remoteLockPin], including for Yale locks. - Tedee uses
[tedeePin]. - Masunt uses
[codelocksArrivalCode]and[codelocksDepartureCode].
Copy the placeholder from the placeholder panel in the message editor rather than typing it. The spelling has to match exactly, and one wrong capital letter stops the code appearing. Setting up the message itself is covered in .
What Smoobu does and what the lock brand does
Smoobu holds the booking and sends the guest message. Your lock brand creates the code and controls the lock. That split explains most questions hosts have:
- The code is created by the lock brand, on the schedule set in that brand's own account, not in Smoobu.
- Smoobu delivers the code inside your own message template, at the time you choose.
- Settings that decide when a code starts and ends live in your lock brand's account.
One property gets one code. Smoobu creates a single code per property and sends it through one placeholder. If a property has two doors, for example a building entrance and the apartment door, many lock brands let you attach both locks to the same property in their own dashboard, so the one code opens both. Nuki supports this. Check your brand's settings for how to add a second lock.
If a code is missing from a message, Door codes aren't showing up in your messages covers the usual causes.
Smart Devices
Smoobu also offers Smart Devices, which connects several lock brands from one place in Smoobu. It is still rolling out and is not available on every account yet. If you can see it, What is Smoobu Smart Devices? describes what it does. If you cannot see it, use your brand's own article above. Both routes work.
